Intel's goal is to offer above-average total pay. The components of cash compensation include:
  • Base Pay
  • Bonuses
In addition, based on job and function, employees may also be eligible for commission incentives.
Base Pay
Base pay is determined by how Intel is positioning itself relative to our competitors, the employee's relevant education, skills, experience, and job performance compared to his or her Intel peers.
Bonuses
Bonuses are a central part of Intel's approach to compensation. Our philosophy is to offer a greater portion of variable pay than the market average, because this provides a strong link between employees' compensation and company performance. We do this by providing two primary bonus plans:
  • Employee Bonus (EB)*
  • Employee Cash Bonus Program (ECBP)
* Commission-eligible employees participate in the commission program in lieu of EB.
Employee Bonus (EB)
Through the EB plan, Intel shares profits by paying employees an annual cash reward based on the employee's bonus target and the current multiplier.
Employee Cash Bonus Plan (ECBP)
This profit-sharing plan pays cash rewards twice a year. The payout is expressed as a number of days pay.

In addition, through our Customer Excellence Program (CEP), employees may also receive an additional two days of pay each year on top of the ECBP payout. CEP measures customers' delight, their commitment to Intel, and the likelihood that they will do future business with us.
Commission
In addition to a base salary, a portion of commission-eligible employees' cash compensation is directly dependent on sales performance. In lieu of the Employee Bonus program, eligible sales and marketing employees participate in the commission plan, which provides a financial incentive linked to performance. The commission target is based on position and grade level; the payout is based on targets and performance to goals.

Employee Cash Bonus Program (ECBP)
The ECBP pays out twice per year based on Intel’s profitability. The payout is expressed as a number of days of pay.
