Intel's benefits plans are designed to keep employees — our most important asset — healthy and productive. Our benefits are generous and personalized, in many cases letting employees choose the options that are right for themselves and their family.
Intel offers private medical insurance benefits to all regular United Kingdom employees. Dependent coverage is available at group rates. Employees following the managed care process of CIGNA incur no out-of-pocket costs. Employees opting not to follow the managed-care process pay the first £100 in any given year. Free medical screening and "well-woman" checkups are available periodically depending upon age.
Intel provides employees with a voluntary defined contribution plan. Intel matches the basic level employee contributions of three to five percent. Employees may make extra voluntary contributions up to an additional five percent. This is matched by Intel at 0.25 percent for each additional one percent of the extra voluntary contribution. Employees may make an additional 'Top Up' contribution up to 60 percent without Intel contribution. Intel may make an additional discretionary annual contribution depending on company performance. Total contributions are subject to the annual allowance as per legislation.
Subject to medical underwriting requirements of the insurers, all regular employees at Intel United Kingdom are covered by a group life insurance plan that covers four times the amount of an employee's salary (plus Employee Bonus payout) in the event of death in service, and one-third of an employee's salary for Spouse Pension. Intel offers Income Protection benefits in the event of long-term sickness or absence from work, subject to the medical assessment of the insurer. The benefit pays 75 percent of Total Cash Remuneration less the State Incapacity Benefit, with the maximum benefit of £100,000 per annum. The benefit is paid if approved by the insurance company and until the earliest of employee's recovery, retirement, or death.
Business Traveller Accident Insurance
In addition to basic life insurance, Intel United Kingdom provides business traveller accident coverage benefits for all employees. Business traveller accident coverage equals five times an employees' annual salary up to $1 million (U.S.).
Business Traveller Medical Plan
Intel offers medical coverage benefits to full-time and part-time employees, for occasions when they are travelling on business outside of the United Kingdom (up to a maximum of 90 days). Coverage includes medically necessary accident and sickness expenses occurring during business travel. Full plan details and expenses are available upon joining Intel and verification of travel.
Vacation Time
Intel United Kingdom employees are entitled to 24 days of yearly vacation up to five years of employment, 25 days between five and nine years of employment, and 26 days for 10 years of employment and beyond.
Extended Leave Program
Employees have the option of saving five vacation days per year for a period of five years. Employees then have a two-year timeframe in which they can use their saved extended leave time.
Recreation
Intel employees in Swindon have access to the sports facilities within the nearby Marriott Hotel.
