Community/Environment Awards
 
A year after Intel and several technology partners installed a high-speed WiMAX wireless network in Parintins, Brazil-giving 100,000 people access to medical, educational, and information resources-Intel Chairman Craig Barrett returned to see the progress achieved to date. He also helped launch new initiatives to move the digital transformation forward. Dec 2007
While visiting Beijing No. 2 Middle School, Paul Otellini announced a significant milestone for the Intel® Teach Program: one million teachers-nearly 10 percent of China's teachers-have completed the program since it started in 2000. Nov 2007
The Third Annual Intel + UC Berkeley Technology Entrepreneurship Challenge was won by a team of scientists that created a new technology to detect breast cancer earlier and more precisely. The Navaris Medical* entry was judged the best new technology with the greatest potential for a positive impact on society. Intel awarded the team $25,000. Nov 2007
Visiting Africa's most populous nation, Intel Board Chairman Craig Barrett announced a comprehensive set of digital inclusion projects aimed at improving education, healthcare, and economic development for Nigeria's 140 million people. Oct 2007
RacingThePlanet* and Intel announced a relationship that showcases Intel's commitment to empowering nations and connecting their citizens to opportunity through RacingThePlanet's six-day, 250 kilometer foot race across remote northwest Vietnam. Oct 2007
Intel Vietnam has combined a geosynchronous satellite and WiMAX to spot-beam high-speed wireless Internet into a remote mountainous region of northern Vietnam. The project was conducted in collaboration with USAID and Vietnam Data Communication Company* to demonstrate that even the most remote areas can now be connected to the Internet efficiently and at reasonable cost. Former U.S. President Bill Clinton announced that Intel will bring its teacher training program online. The goal is to help more than 1.5 million teachers in 15 countries integrate technology into their classrooms. Intel Chairman Craig Barrett joined Clinton in New York at the 2007 annual meeting of the Clinton Global Initiative to announce the new Intel® Teach Program as part of Intel's $100 million-plus annual investment in worldwide education initiatives. Corporate Business Awards
 
Havok, a wholly owned subsidiary of Intel, was honored with an Emmy* award at the Technology and Engineering Emmy Awards at the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas. Havok earned the award from the U.S. National Academy of Television, Arts and Sciences for its work on pioneering physics engines that bring new levels of realism to movies and games. Jan 2008
Intel is at the top of Corporate Responsibility Officer Magazine's* Best Corporate Citizen list for technology hardware companies. Also, Dave Stangis, Intel's director of corporate responsibility, was named to Ethisphere Magazine's* 100 Most Influential People in Business Ethics list. Dec 2007
The Best of DTTC Award winners for 2007 have been selected. Over 600 paper submissions were received and only 132 were selected for presentation at the conference. Quality standards were raised in all areas and formats, including panels, tutorials, demos, and posters. Oct 2007

The Dow Jones* Sustainability Index named Intel a technology supersector leader for the seventh year in a row. Intel is the only US-based company among the 18 companies recognized for their economic, social, and environmental records. The 2007 CNET Networks UK Business Technology Awards were announced at the London Hilton on September 24, 2007. Over 600 guests attended the awards ceremony, which honors technology excellence in categories including Enterprise Hardware Product of the Year, Networking Product of the Year, and Security Product of the Year. Intel® Centrino® processor technology was nominated for Mobile Product or Service of the Year. Sep 2007

The Greater Albuquerque Chamber of Commerce presented its third annual corporate citizenship awards recently. The awards honor companies that illustrate community involvement, positive economic impact, and economic prominence. The Microprocessor Report presented Intel its Analysts' Choice Award in the Innovation category for core microarchitecture, which is dramatically changing Intel's approach to designing x86 desktop, mobile, and server processors. Feb 2007
