The Site—Kuala Lumpur

Intel in Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia, is where 200 employees deliver world-class sales and support at the original equipment manufacturer, developer and end-user levels.

The primary responsibilities for Intel's sales and marketing team in Malaysia include:
  • Delivering innovative products to consumer and OEM markets
  • Driving Intel's initiatives, technologies, products and services into the marketplace
  • Creating demand for Intel's products
  • Driving the market to recognize Intel's role in the Internet at the OEM, developer, and end-user levels

Kuala Lumpur is also home to the Intel Multimedia Super Corridor, located in Century Square at Cyberjaya. Intel's investment in the Multimedia Super Corridor is a bequest to the Malaysian government with the hope of making the exclusive stretch or "corridor" from the bustling Kuala Lumpur City Center to the ultra-modern Kuala Lumpur International Airport a premier multimedia and information technology hub in the region and internationally. Over the next 10 years, Multimedia Super Corridor is expected to be Malaysia's second engine of growth, catalyzing the transformation of Malaysia's economy from an industry-based economy to a knowledge-based economy.
Intel has a number of groups that function from this office, including: Assembly Technology Development Automation; Asia Finance Enterprise System e-Business and Application; and functions of the Penang Design Center, which focuses on designing and developing software solutions for internal customers.

Enjoying life in Kuala Lumpur

Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia, offers an interesting blend of food, art, culture and entertainment. There is an endless selection of food ranging from local favorites to western, continental, Thai and Japanese cuisines that will satisfy all palates.
A comprehensive modern network of transportation systems serves Kuala Lumpur, and more than 30 foreign airlines fly in from various parts of the globe. Buses, mini-buses and taxis are common and the Light Rail Transit will soon enhance the public transportation system even further. Kuala Lumpur is served by the country's largest seaport, Port Klang.
For classical music concerts, the main venue is Dewan Filharmonik Petronas in the Petronas Twin Towers complex. Malaysia's first classical concert hall is home to the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra and also hosts other classical concerts and cultural performances. Kuala Lumpur's theatre scene has been revitalized by the move of Malaysia's National Theatre to the massive new Istana Budaya theatre. With seating for almost 1,500 people, this state-of-the-art venue is among the best in the world. Cinemas, some with films shown in English, include Central Market and Rex.
Because of the many ethnic groups in Kuala Lumpur, there are various cultural and religious events around the city throughout the year, but all people and religions come together to celebrate Malaysian independence on August 31 with a massive parade that brings the city center to a halt.
