Intel's goal is to pay above-average total cash compensation. Components of cash compensation include:
  • Base Pay
  • Bonuses (see "Bonus" tab above)
In addition, based on job and function, employees may also be eligible for:
  • Commission
  • Shift and/or overtime premiums
Base Pay
Base pay for each job is determined by
  • what our competitors generally pay for a comparable job, and
  • the employee's relevant education, skills, experience, and job performance compared to his or her Intel peers.
Commission
In addition to a base salary, a portion of commission-eligible employees' cash compensation is directly dependent on sales performance. In lieu of the Employee Bonus program, eligible sales and marketing employees participate in the commission plan, which provides a financial incentive linked to sales performance. The incentive target is based on job, grade, and performance; the payout is based on the target and performance to goals.
Shift Premiums
Intel's manufacturing sites operate with a number of shift patterns that facilitate 24 hour-a-day operations, seven days a week. Manufacturing employees work in day/night compressed workweek shifts, which help them balance the needs of work and life. Various shift premiums are paid to non-exempt employees who work the compressed work week shift pattern. Most support and office employees work a regular workweek shift schedule.

Overtime Premiums
In addition to local market practices, overtime is paid according to the laws that govern the site in which the employee works.

Vehicles Interest Subsidy Program
Intel employees in Malaysia may apply for the vehicle interest subsidy to assist in purchasing or refinancing vehicles.
