The Site—Haifa

Located on Israel's Mediterranean coast, Haifa is home to Intel's Israel Development Center (IDC), as well as a sales and marketing support office. IDC was established in 1974 as Intel's first development center outside the United States. Multi-disciplinary teams at this center develop very large-scale integration (VLSI) components, VLSI CAD tools and software technologies.
The pioneering 8088 processor, Intel® math coprocessors, the i860® XP processor, Ethernet communication chips, and cache and memory controllers are a few of the more than 50 products designed in IDC. IDC led the invention and development of the Intel® Pentium® processor with MMX™ technology, launched by Intel in early 1997, the Intel® Centrino™ Mobile Technology, launched in early 2003, and now develops Intel's future mobile microprocessors.
The IDC networking group develops advanced networking components enabling Intel and third parties to develop the most advanced PC connectivity solutions for LAN and broadband access. The CAD tool group develops logic and performance verification tools and more for Intel's chip designers, providing software tools for programming the most highly advanced processors. The software group develops software technologies and products.
The Haifa location is also home to one of Intel's sales and marketing offices for Israel. This office works with local PC manufacturers, distribution partners and the software industry, and is part of the Europe, Middle East and Africa Sales and Marketing organization.

The primary responsibilities for Intel's sales and marketing team in Israel include:
  • Delivering innovative products to consumer and OEM markets
  • Driving Intel's initiatives, technologies, products and services into the marketplace
  • Creating demand for Intel's products
  • Driving the market to recognize Intel's role in the Internet at the OEM, developer, and end-user levels

Intel Haifa has an employee cafeteria, laundry and dry cleaning services, a day care facility, and a film developing facility on-site. Employees can also take advantage of a convenient travel agency, flower delivery and many other organized leisure activities such as culture evenings, enrichment lectures and more.

Enjoying life in Haifa

Haifa, Israel's third largest city and northern capital, is a major Mediterranean port and the industrial and commercial center of northern Israel. Situated in a broad natural bay between the beautiful Mediterranean Sea and Carmel Mountain, Haifa's terraced landscape offers a rich variety of breathtaking panoramas. To the northeast, across the sparkling waters of the harbor, sits the medieval walled fortress of Acre.
Directly north are the heights of Rosh Hanikra, the majestic white cliff and checkpoint on Israel-Lebanon border. Further east towers the snow-capped peak of Mount Hermon. Traditional, contemporary, sophisticated and relaxed, Haifa offers an eclectic combination of experiences. It features theaters and museums, including the New Haifa Museum and the National Museum of Science and Technion, as well as cinemas, elegant hotels, shopping malls and pearly beaches. Haifa is also home to many modern, world-renowned educational institutions such as Haifa University and the Technion Institute of Technology.
