Intel's benefits plans are designed to keep employees—our most important asset—healthy and productive. Our benefits are generous and personalized, in many cases letting employees choose the options that are right for themselves and their family.

Medical Benefits

Intel Germany offers a government-mandated plan covering hospitalization, clinical care, dental care, vision care and prescriptions. Employees' dependents are covered by the plan. Law requires that if employees earn less than the social security set each year, they will be covered by the government plan, which the law requires to be covered 50 percent by the employee and 50 percent by the employer. If earnings exceed EUR 48,150 per year, (for 2008; ceiling amount changes every year) the employee may choose the government plan or a private plan. Intel pays 50 percent of the total private health insurance contributions (net through payroll), up to a maximum amount which is defined by the government.

Pension Program

In Germany, Intel complies with the legally mandated State-Defined Benefit Plan for all employees. Retirement age for full pension is based on the new law stepwise until age 67, depending on year of birth. In addition, Intel Germany has a sponsored plan, which is fully funded by Intel. Vesting entitlement is according to new legislation, five years of service and 30 years of age. Intel's plan includes retirement pension, long-term disability pension, widow's pension, orphan's pension, and a lump sum death benefit.

Accident Insurance

All employees at Intel Germany are covered by a group 24-hour Accident Insurance. For exempt employees, coverage includes up to EUR 103,000 for death and up to EUR 205,000 for disability. For nonexempt employees, coverage consists of up to EUR 52,000 for death and up to EUR 103,000 for disability.
Business Traveler Accident Insurance
In addition to basic life insurance and basic accidental death insurance, Intel Germany provides business traveler accident coverage for all employees. Business traveler accident coverage equals five times an employee's annual salary up to U.S. $1 million.

Paid Time Off

Vacation Time
Intel Germany employees are entitled to 28 days vacation leave per year to allow them sufficient time to pursue recreational interests and enhance family/personal life. One additional day is granted after one, three and six years of service, for a maximum of 31 days per year.
Extended Leave Program
Employees have the option to bank five working days of annual vacation for a period of five years, with a limit of 25 days banked. Employees then have a two year timeframe to use their extended leave.

Other Benefits

Cafeteria Plan
At the Feldkirchen site, Intel Germany subsidizes its employee cafeteria so meals are provided to employees at reasonable prices.
Asset-Formation Plan
Based on the Asset Formation law, every employee can put EUR 319.05 per year (EUR 26.59 per month) into a savings plan. This amount is entirely paid by Intel, but is subject to tax withholding and social security deduction. For permanent part-time employees the amount is pro-rated according to the hours worked. A prerequisite to getting this benefit is a qualifying contract (i.e. with a life insurance company or a bank) from the employee.
