Enjoying life in Barcelona

Barcelona is one of the world's most dynamic, cosmopolitan cities — and one of the most progressive. Widely famous for its architectural attractions, Barcelona lives on the edge of fashion, design and music, and its dining and nightlife reflect the same cutting-edge modern tastes.
There are many amazing things to see and experience in Barcelona. Barcelona's old town, called Cuitat Vella, is at the very heart of the city, filled with narrow, winding streets that link its historic neighborhoods. From there, you can take Las Ramblas, a tree-lined street where pedestrian shoppers, salespeople and artists mingle. Las Ramblas is home to a fascinating bird market, as well as the colorful Mercat de la Boqueria and the Gran Teatre del Liceu, a famous 19th-century opera house. The Raval district of museums and galleries lies just off of Las Ramblas.
The trendy La Ribera district is where you'll find the Museu Picasso, Barcelona's most famous and highly visited museum, which houses many valuable works by Pablo Picasso and other artists in its three stone mansions. In L'Eixample, an area well known for its art nouveau-inspired architecture and residential living spaces, you'll find the Sagrada Familia. This is the finest work by Barcelona artist Antoni Gaudí, who died in 1926 before its magnificent carved sculptures and spires could be finished.
