Moscow is the capital of the Russian Federation, and it has played an important role throughout Russia's history for over 850 years. Today, Moscow is Russia's most populated city (home to more than nine million people), as well as its political, educational and cultural center. In the middle of the city is Moscow's Kremlin, now a museum, with towers symbolizing the history and power of Russia. On foot, you can walk well-worn streets such as Arbat, one of the most popular in Moscow, where pedestrians can enjoy street artists, cafes, shops, museums and an abundance of elegant architecture.
Moscow includes an incredible concentration of educational facilities, such as Moscow State University, Russia's leading university. The city's most well-known and largest library is the V.I. Lenin State Library. The old KGB Headquarters is nearby, as well. Moscow is a transportation center within Russia, with four airports, six railroad terminals and two river ports conveniently located.
Theatre, music and art are integral parts of Moscow's culture. Moscow's Central Squares include Theatre Square, home of the Bolshoi Theatre (for which employees can order tickets at the Intel office), and the world-famous Red Square, where you can see historical towers, cathedrals and the State Historical Museum. Within the Garden Ring of Moscow are found architectural wonders from centuries of Russian development and artistic style. The Museum of Fine Arts includes wonderful collections of Russian artists' work and much more.
