INTEL VOLUNTEERS PROVED TO BE PREPARED AT THE SCOUTS DEN

September 21, 2006

Last week, a large contingent of Intel volunteers helped the Leixlip Scouts by painting the den. The den is being completely revamped and the makeover is being captured by RTE as part of the ‘Community Challenge’ TV programme. Intel volunteers have been involved with the scouts since 1998, and over the years they have completed a number of painting projects.

Over 30 Intel volunteers, from Etch and Public Affairs departments, painted both the inside and outside of the building, which is an old church. They painted the walls inside in white and the old window recesses were painted in bright purple, green and red. The outside and the doors were painted black. Brenda Corbally from the Scout’s Den was delighted with the volunteer’s work, “The volunteers did an amazing job. They were so enthusiastic and we really appreciate the hard work they put in – I can’t wait to see the den when all the other work is completed and it will really be a place the scouts can be proud of.”

The ‘Community Challenge’ series will be aired in October on RTE with a date for the Scout’s Den episode still to be finalised. If you know of a community group that could benefit from the Intel Involved volunteer programme, please contact Bronagh Friel at 606 7000.
