BREAKTHROUGH RESEARCH SHOWCASED AT INTEL IRELAND

On the 4th and 5th September, the third Intel Ireland Research Conference was held on the Leixlip campus. This annual conference showcases the university research currently sponsored by Intel Ireland in the silicon technology, nanotechnology and information, communications technology and digital health areas.
There were over 50 postgraduate research students along with their academic directors from 10 universities in attendance. The conference was also open to all Intel employees and other invited guests who heard from five key note speakers and 12 postgraduate student presentations. There were over 30 poster presentations from both university research departments and groups in Intel.
Dr Padraig Ó Murchú from Intel Public Affairs organised the conference, “I’m thrilled with the success of the conference again this year. Feedback from the attendees has been extremely positive and it is a great opportunity for leading Intel technologists and university researchers to come together to discuss the challenges currently faced by the industry and Intel as it continues to drive innovation and develop new products.”
Key note topics included; silicon technology, nanotechnology, high-volume manufacturing and IT digital health research. Third level institutions in attendance include; Trinity College Dublin; University College Dublin; University College Cork; Dublin City University; National University of Ireland, Maynooth; Queens University Belfast; University of Ulster; Focus Institute/DIT; University of Toulouse and Tyndall National Institute.
