INTEL’S CORPORATE SERVICES GROUP ASSISTS CONFEY COLLEGE
October 03, 2006

Eight volunteers from Intel’s Corporate Services Group recently visited Confey College, Leixlip to spruce up the school’s learning resource room. The learning resource room is used by students in the school with special needs. Intel liaised with teachers, Grainne McCormack and Grainne O’Connor in Confey College to generate ideas on how the volunteers could best adapt the room for the students. Last week the group painted the room, and on a previous visit they set up partitions within the room to create individual working spaces for the students.
Grainne McCormack, Confey College’s learning resource teacher, was delighted with the volunteers’ efforts, “The work completed by the volunteers on the room is wonderful – it makes such a change and will really enhance the student’s learning experience. I know the group worked very hard both days they came to us, and I’d like to extend a big thank you to them all.”
This project qualifies for the Intel Volunteer Matching Grants Programme. For every 20 hours an Intel employee volunteers in a school, the Intel Foundations gives the school the equivalent of $200 at the end of the school year.
Intel Involved is the worldwide volunteer programme. In Ireland, over 160,000 hours have been completed in the local community in the past 10 years.
