INTEL EMPLOYEES ON HAND AT 2006 RYDER CUP
October 03, 2006

Intel Ireland employees were on hand at the Ryder Cup in the K Club to assist with IT. Over the six days of the competition, seven Intel employees ensured that the laptops throughout both the Ryder Cup course and the K Club Hotel were always in working order. They installed and monitored 50 Intel® Centrino™ mobile technology laptops over the six days of the competition.
Colin Mac Hale, Ireland Country Manager Sales and Marketing said, “This was a terrific opportunity for Intel to help by providing a community solution for the organizers of this prestigious event and of course it was a wonderful chance to display Intel technology in action. The Intel employees were on hand to help with any IT issues for the entire competition.”
The employees are from the IT department in Intel and each was specifically chosen as they have experience and knowledge in wireless technology. This was especially important as all laptops for the Ryder Cup were connected to the broadband by wireless technology. The employees set up the laptops and then ensured they were always in working order by checking on them regularly during the competition. The laptops were located in the six corporate hospitality suites, in the business centres, the Smurfit Clubhouse reception and business centre, the Media Centre and in the site office. In the K Club Hotel, where the players were staying, three Intel employees worked side by side with the K Club IT manager to assist with the laptops to be used by the players and their families.
