INTEL WINS PRESTIGIOUS CSR AWARD FOR BEST COMMUNITY BASED PROJECT

November 23, 2006

This week, Intel was presented with an award for the ‘Best Community Based Project’ by a multinational at the annual Chambers Ireland President’s Awards for Corporate Social Responsibility. The award was presented to Intel for the long standing relationships that we have developed with the local community.

Intel’s Public Affairs Manager, Trevor Holmes collected the award, “Our relationship with our local communities is paramount to us and I’m delighted that it has been recognized in this prestigious way. This award is a tremendous acknowledgement of the time and talent that our employees continue to invest in our communities.”

The awards were run in association with the Department of Community Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs and are sponsored by Cityjet, and the winners were presented with specially produced Waterford Crystal vases by Minister of State Noel Ahern T.D. The Chambers of Commerce of Ireland’s President’s Awards for CSR were established in 2004 to recognise the work being carried out by small, medium and large Irish and multinational companies to improve the lives of their employees and to enhance the civic environment in which they operate.

This year, Intel was also short listed for another award on the night, in the Workplace category for our work life effectiveness and family friendly initiatives. In 2005, Intel was awarded the ‘Best Workplace Initiative by a Multinational’ for our construction safety programme as well as a commendation in the ‘Best Environmental Based Project’ category for our resource conservation programme.

At the awards’ ceremony, Chambers Ireland’s President Robin O’Sullivan announced that from 2007 the awards will be jointly organised and managed with Business in the Community Ireland (BITCI). O’Sullivan said, “Chambers Ireland and Business In the Community Ireland have worked together for some time on various CSR related projects. We are now looking forward to formalising and strengthening our relationship. This partnership will enhance and further drive the CSR agenda nationally, setting standards for successful and sustainable business practices.”
