170 CHILDREN ATTEND INTEL KID TO WORK DAY
July 13, 2006

On Friday 7th July, Intel employees were invited to bring their children to work for the annual ‘Kid to Work Day’. This is the sixth year in a row that Intel Ireland has hosted this popular event. As usual, it is an early start to the day as the children arrive with their parent at eight o’clock. After being welcomed to Intel, the children get a chance to see where their parent works and enjoy breakfast with their colleagues in the café.
Activities during the day were specifically designed for each age category with an emphasis on the fun side of science. Children in the five to seven age category had their faces painted, attended a magic puppet show and played on the bouncy castles. At the same time, the children in the eight plus age category enjoyed two science workshops, arts and crafts and a tour of the clean room.
Roseanne Killeen from the Human Resource department in Intel is a member of the team that organises the Kid to Work Day event each year, “Six years on and this event is still as popular as ever. The children thoroughly enjoy the day of activities and being able to see where their parents work. It is a wonderful way to start off the summer holidays.”

About the Intel Work Life Effectiveness programme
The Kid to Work Day is only one of the many events and initiatives organized by the Work Life Effectiveness programme in Intel. This programme helps employees find a balance between work and home life by providing information and services to employees. Other initiatives include an on site gym and indoor sports hall available to employees and an active Sports & Social Club that organises cinema nights, summer barbeques, children’s Christmas Panto trip, tickets to many major concerts/plays/events and themed parties, to name but a few. There is an on site shop where employees can get their dry-cleaning done, photos developed and there are facilities so that employees can do their banking (all of these services are sourced in the local area). There is an Employee Assistance Programme for employees who need any sort of counselling (bereavement, addiction, relationship, stress, etc) where Intel will fund six counselling sessions for the employee through this totally confidential service.
