The annual Intel Christmas party for the senior citizens of Leixlip was held on Tuesday 28th November in the Springfield Hotel. The guests were collected at designated points around Leixlip at 4pm and brought to the hotel.

They were welcomed by volunteers from Intel and treated to a pre dinner drinks reception before the sat down to a mouth-watering four course dinner of traditional turkey and ham. Trevor Holmes, Intel Ireland Public Affairs Manager gave a brief after dinner speech, in which he commented, “This is always a great occasion and many friendships have been formed over the years between these residents of Leixlip and employees who volunteer at the party. For me, this Christmas party is the real start of the festive season.”

Austin Cunningham provided the musical entertainment after dinner and it wasn’t long before the dance floor was full as people dancing to tunes from years gone by. Michael Reidy and his wife Anne look forward to the party every year with great anticipation, “It’s always a marvellous event – we come every year and look forward to it for weeks!”

All too soon, the night was over and it was time for the guests to get back on the buses once again. Before they left they were presented with a Christmas gift by the Intel volunteers who helped out throughout the evening.
