INTEL EMPLOYEES CONTRIBUTE OVER 2,000 VOLUNTEER HOURS

August 10, 2006

From the beginning of this year, Intel employees have volunteered over 2,000 hours to the Intel Involved programme. The range of projects undertaken by volunteers this year has included painting, planting, bingo, teaching PC skills and face painting to name but a few. A total of 50 projects have been completed locally, with close to 300 individual volunteers, in Leixlip, Maynooth, Celbridge and Lucan.

Intel Involved Coordinator, Bronagh Friel, is really pleased with the response from employees across the campus, “It’s great to see so many employees volunteering; we’ve had such a great response from various departments which has driven many of the recent projects, and the interns are always keen to help out.”

Intel’s Corporate Service manager Deborah Brennan is really impressed with the numbers of employees volunteering too, “Intel volunteers have once again proven to be a great asset to our local community; the amount of hours volunteered this year is truly fantastic. It’s great to see so many of our employees taking the time to help out and reach out to those that need us in the surrounding areas.”

Many departments have taken to participating in projects as a group, and recently many volunteers have commented that the departmental projects are a great way of generating team work and spirit amongst employees.

Intel Involved is the worldwide volunteer programme in Intel which started in Leixlip in 1996. They are always on the look out for projects for our volunteers. If you have a project that you think Intel Involved could help with, please contact Bronagh Friel on 01 606 4089.
