INTEL VOLUNTEERS PLANT TREES IN LUCAN SCHOOL FOR EARTH DAY 2006
April 24, 2006

Intel volunteers marked Global Earth Day on Thursday 20th April by planting over 20 trees in Griffeen Educate Together School in Lucan. The 16 volunteers arrived at the school after work and quickly got stuck in digging the holes for the trees.
The Intel Involved volunteer programme is a global initiative and throughout the year, the volunteers complete global projects with different themes. Global Earth Day is the project for the environmental theme. This project was also the first time that volunteers in Ireland all wore blue Intel Involved t-shirts. Every time an employee volunteers they will receive a t-shirt and our volunteers are now much easier to spot around the local towns.
Tomás O’Dúlaing, principal in Griffeen Educate Together School in Lucan said, “I am delighted with the trees that the volunteers planted. I am very grateful for the work that was done – this is a nice example of big organizations giving back to local schools.”
This is the 37th year that Global Earth Day has been held. This year the official day was April 22nd although events were also held on the surrounding days.
