OVER €6,000 COLLECTED IN INTEL FOR NATIONAL DAFFODIL DAY 2006

April 06, 2006

March 24th was National Daffodil Day and once again the Irish Cancer Society sent representatives to the Intel Leixlip site to sell their pins and trinkets. This year, €6,110 was collected in Intel during breakfast and lunch breaks on the day.

The representatives set up a stand in each of the three canteens across the campus and encouraged employees to buy a pin or some fresh daffodils in support of the charity. Over the few hours most of the pins were swept up.

Marie Cronolly who coordinates the collection in Intel said, “Every year, the employees in Intel are extremely generous on Daffodil Day and this year was no exception. Last year €4,435 was collected so this year’s total is a fantastic result. I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to the employees in Intel for their help and support again on Daffodil Day. The Irish Cancer Society will make sure that the money will be put to a good use.”

Each year Intel invites a number of charities to collect on their national flag day at the Leixlip campus. This year the charities that have been selected are the Irish Cancer Society and the Kildare Hospice.
