China

Guangdong Province, located in the People's Republic of China has been growing rapidly over the past two decades. However, the rural areas which make up a majority of the province were still living without even the most basic needs.

Intel worked with local leaders to create a government-assisted PC purchase program that included broadband Internet access. By connecting farmers to Internet and communications technology (ICT), they were able to access markets in cities, providing them with a channel to sell their produce.

Nigeria

As Africa's most populous country, Nigeria faces a massive digital divide. With just seven PCs per 1,000 inhabitants¹, computer access is well beyond most Nigerians' reach due to high costs and limited availability. Internet connectivity is also in short supply and high demand.

Intel worked with Nigeria's leaders to bring sustainable access to PCs and Internet connectivity through its Computers for All Nigerians initiative (CANi). By helping tens of thousands of Nigerians purchase a PC for the first time, Nigeria is laying a scalable foundation on which to build its future.

Jordan

The Jordanian government wanted to help students develop essential 21st century skills and established an initiative to explore ways to address a variety of educational challenges.

Intel, along with the Jordanian leaders, created the Computers-on-Wheels (COW) pilot. The project provided carts with Intel® technology-based laptop PCs to four schools for classroom eLearning.

Brazil

Parintins, Brazil is a remote island in the middle of the Amazon, accessible only by plane or boat. There are no roads. Many schools do not have power, much less computers. And quality healthcare has been difficult, if not impossible, to deliver.

Intel worked with country leaders in Brazil to deploy a sustainable, scalable solution in just six weeks.

India

Pune, Baramati is an administration center for a group of villages with well-built roads, water, and utilities. But there are still remote locations, skill gaps in schools, and disparities in healthcare.

Intel, along with local leaders, is working to give all citizens more opportunities, improved education, and better healthcare.

Spain

Spain's underserved villages and rural communities did not have access to the same kind of quality education or ICT that children in larger cities had.

Intel, in collaboration with Red.es, an agency of Spain's Ministry of Industry, Tourism, and Commerce developed an "Internet in the Classroom" program in 44 schools across 11 regions. Using tablet PCs with Intel® technologies, students in even the most remote areas have access to a world of information.
