Green Buildings

Intel continues to include green concepts and practices in the construction of our new buildings. The U.S. Green Building Council developed the LEED green building rating system. It provides a set of voluntary, consensus-based standards for developing high-performance, sustainable buildings. We are working to certify our IDC 9 design center in Haifa, Israel as a LEED-registered building.

The new design center will use environmentally friendly building materials and construction methods and will use natural lighting from an internal patio infusing light into all levels from an atrium. The building will also include energy-saving air conditioning and electrical systems and an irrigation system that uses only recycled water.

In October 2007, Intel announced plans to achieve LEED certification for a wafer fabrication facility known as Fab 32 located in Chandler, Arizona.  Fab 32 will be among Intel’s most environmentally friendly factories. It will incorporate energy and water conservation measures and will manufacture Intel's industry-leading lead-free 45nm processors.

We're seeking LEED certification for our newest facilities in China, Israel, and in the U.S. state of Arizona.
