Environment
We incorporate environmental performance goals throughout our operations, seeking continuous improvement in energy efficiency, emissions reductions, resource conservation, and other areas. We strive to minimize the environmental impact of our products—from design through disposal—and we collaborate with others to develop innovative ways that technology can help address long-term sustainability challenges.

Committing to green power
We signed a multi-year commitment to purchase over 1.3 billion kilowatt-hours of renewable energy certificates a year, making Intel the largest purchaser of green power in the U.S., according to the EPA.
Involving our whole organization
In 2008, we added an environmental component to the formula used to determine the payout for our employees’ variable compensation.
Investing in solar energy
Intel Capital, our global investment organization, invested more than $100 million in solar energy in 2008, and we installed solar hot water and electricity systems at three Intel sites.

Reduce, reuse, recycle
We exceeded our corporate-wide goal of recycling more than 80 percent of our waste in 2008.
