Today, Intel supplies the computing
and communications industries with chips, boards, systems
and software building blocks that are the "ingredients"
of computers, servers, and networking
and communications products.
These products rely on Intel's technology leadership and expertise
in silicon design and manufacturing to help customers create
advanced computing and communications systems. Intel's mission
is to be the preeminent building block supplier to the worldwide
Internet economy.

Intel® architecture platform products Microprocessors, also called central processing units (CPUs)
or chips, are frequently described as the "brains" of a computer,
because they control the central processing of data in personal
computers (PCs), servers, workstations and other computers.
Intel offers microprocessors
optimized for each segment of the computing market:
 |
|
Intel® Pentium® 4 and Pentium® III processors for performance desktop PCs and entry-level servers and workstations |
 |
|
Intel® Celeron® processors for value PC systems |
 |
|
Mobile Intel® Pentium® 4 and Intel® Pentium® III processors-M for performance and extended battery life in mobile PC systems |
 |
|
Intel® Xeon processors for mid-range to high-end servers and workstations |
 |
|
Intel® Itanium processors for enterprise-class servers |
Chipsets perform essential logic functions surrounding
the CPU in computers, and support and extend the graphics,
video and other capabilities of many Intel processor-based
systems.
Motherboards
combine Intel microprocessors and chipsets to form the basic
subsystem of a PC or server.
Networking
and communications products
These products include network connectivity products based
on Ethernet technology such as network interface cards, optical
components built on industry-standard interfaces and network
processing solutions that provide programmable building blocks
for modular networking infrastructure. Embedded control chips
are also offered for use in laser printers, imaging products,
automotive systems and other applications.
Wireless communications and computing products Intel provides component-level hardware and software for digital cellular communications and other applications requiring both low-power processing and high performance, such as cellular handsets and handheld computing devices. For these markets, Intel offers Intel® Flash memory, application processors based on the Intel® StrongARM* processor core and the Intel® XScale microarchitecture, and cellular baseband chipsets.
New business products These products and services include Web hosting and data center services.

Intels major customers include:
Original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) of computer systems, cellular handsets and handheld computing devices, telecommunications and networking communications equipment, and peripherals.
PC and network communications products users
including individuals, large and small businesses, and service
providerswho buy Intel's PC enhancements, networking
products and business communications products through reseller,
retail, e-Business and OEM channels.
