Celebrating 35 Years of Innovation

To commemorate Intel's 35th anniversary, we buried a time capsule on July 15th at the Robert Noyce building in Santa Clara. Employees with more than 25 years of service joined our founders and current leaders—Craig Barrett, Gordon Moore, Andy Grove and Paul Otellini—to celebrate the past and look forward to innovations to come. The time capsule will be opened 15 years from now at our 50th anniversary celebration.

What do you put in a time capsule

The capsule includes a variety of items sent in by the various business groups and individual employees of Intel from around the world. Items not only reflect technology and innovation, but how we manage our business and the people who make Intel what it is today. We also included some predictions from several of Intel's managers who did their best to forecast what the world, technology and Intel will be like in 2003.

Here are just a few of the approximately 100 items that will be included:

Intel® Itanium® Processor Intel® Itanium® Processor–
Intel’s newest 64-bit processor contains nearly 500 million transistors, and is designed for use in high-end servers and workstations.
Intel® Centrino® Processor Technology and Items From Israel–
This wooden box from Israel is carved from an olive tree and contains the Intel® Centrino® processor technology that was developed at the Intel Israel Design Center.
Employee Badge–
Every Intel employee wears a badge at work. The badge symbolizes employment at Intel and provides access to the places employees need to go to do their work.
300mm Wafer–
The D1C fabrication facility in Oregon provided one of the latest 300mm wafers that contains hundreds of Intel® Pentium® 4 processors.
2003 Mission, Values and Objectives Poster–
Each year Intel reviews the corporate mission, values and objectives. Once finalized posters are created and posted in all of the conference rooms and on badge attachments
ISing Music CD–
ISing is an Intel choral group that performs in the Oregon community. Their repertoire includes a wide variety of choral music from pre-renaissance to the present day. The proceeds from the CD benefit STRUT, Students Recycling Used Technology – an initiative founded by Intel Corporation and the Northwest Regional Education District.
