Collaboration

Cultivating collaborations

Improving health and healthcare requires the efforts of many stakeholders. Intel works with global, national, and regional experts from the healthcare and technology industries, governments, universities, and consumer groups to catalyze an ecosystem for healthcare research and deliver technology solutions that improve the healthcare experience for everyone.

Since we began focusing on healthcare in 1999, we have provided numerous grants to universities across the globe for healthcare-related research. We have also collaborated to create a wide range of healthcare initiatives.

Technology Research for Independent Living (TRIL)

Along with the Irish Government, we are a major contributor to the TRIL Centre, a leading global research center working to address the physical, cognitive, and social consequences of aging. Through the TRIL Centre, researchers at Intel Ireland, working in collaboration with 3 Irish universities and Intel's U.S.-based research teams, aim to deploy new technologies and approaches to provide unobtrusive care to seniors living independent lives.

Behavioral Assessment and Intervention Commons (BAIC)

This academic-industrial collaboration between Intel's Health Research and Innovation Group and the Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) works to construct a research commons—a shared pool of tools, technology, and thinking—around behavioral markers and health outcomes. Press Release (January 24, 2007)

Center for Aging Services Technologies (CAST)

We were instrumental in founding and currently chair CAST, a national coalition of more than 400 technology companies, aging-services organizations, research universities, and government representatives. CAST is leading the national charge to develop and deploy emerging technologies that can improve the experience of aging in America.

Everyday Technologies in Alzheimer Care (ETAC)

The Alzheimer's Association and Intel have formed an unprecedented consortium to address the needs of the estimated 4 million people in the United State living with Alzheimer's disease. Our commitment to ongoing research aims to help spur development of home-based technologies and new models of care.

Oregon Center for Aging and Tech (ORCATECH)

ORCATECH is a collaboration with the Oregon Health Sciences University to drive evidence-based technology research in "living laboratories" across the state to accelerate commercial systems. Through interactive and cross-disciplinary research, ORCATECH seeks to identify technologies to help seniors maintain independence as they age.

Policy and standards initiatives

Intel works with governments and other stakeholders to create open standards and address policy issues.
