Achievement
The accomplishment I feel most proud of is having maintained a passionate connection to my craft. In a business where you're only as good as your last project, the pressure can be intense, causing many folks to take the safe, predictable route. I love risk, and welcome it in what I do. That's where the excitement lies.
I'm also proud of having further developed my skills from shooting to directing, editing and producing, and my computer serves as a crucial tool in each of those realms. It serves as my mobile office/workshop, and gives me the potential to wear many hats at once, all on one laptop.
Inspiration
My inspiration stems from an ardent desire to explore the world, meet interesting people, and craft powerful stories. I haven't owned a television since age 17, so my aesthetic cues come from other areas: painting, cinema, cultures, vernacular design, exploring the Internet, and simply walking down the street.
Insight
Computer technology has democratized the filmmaking medium. Now I have so many powerful tools at my fingertips, and best of all, they fit on a laptop, which gives me the freedom I want. With a processor, I can have more going on my desktop at the same time, which is key. My biggest advice for anyone interested in making films is to simply dive in. Cultivate an appetite for inspiration and build your skillsets by learning what you have to in order to get the job done.
Dream
My dream is to continue circling the planet, making movies about amazing people. My goal is to keep honing my craft and to enjoy where the adventure takes me. I'd also like to continue giving back, through mentoring teens in filmmaking. These are powerful tools in the medium of our age - more people should have them.
