Martti Roth
Martti is a field applications engineer and has been with Intel for six years. He was the first note (D flat) of the Intel chime.
This was all your idea. How did you think of it?
It's a long story. I wanted to put Intel Finland on the map. And I knew that everyone recognised the Intel chime. So one night I thought about the biggest, most exciting way we could create those five notes. And the longer I stayed in the bar, the more sense it made.
But why cannons?
Cannons have played a part in our family history for years. In 1906, my great grandfather tried to fire himself from a cannon over the widest part of the river Vantaa in Helsinki.
Did he make it over?
Some of him did. Funny really, but on the day itself I really felt as though he was looking down on me, and guiding me through the air towards that big, metal pipe. It was very emotional.
What's next for you?
Well it's early days, but I've been working on something. Another way of making the Intel chime! This time even bigger! It's going to be pretty special if we get the insurance.
