Retiree Health Programs Overview

If you meet any of the retirement eligibility* rules, you will be eligible to participate in the IRMP medical, vision plans and/or the Intel Catastrophic Rx Health Reimbursement Account (HRA) if enrolled in Medicare Part D.

SERMA will be established upon your retirement from Intel if you were hired or rehired before January 1, 2014, you are a U.S. employee at the time you retire and meet any of Intel’s retirement eligibility rules.

*Refer to IRMP and SERMA SPD for complete information on Retiree Health eligibility, use and benefits.

IRMP gives you access to medical and vision coverage upon retiring from Intel.  The following IRMP options are available to eligible retirees and your eligible dependents:

Anthem Medicare Preferred (PPO) with Senior RX for Medicare retirees/dependents (typically, age 65 and over).

IRMP Anthem High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP) for Non-Medicare retirees/dependents.

IRMP Vision Plan - You have two vision plans from which to choose—1) VSP Basic Vision Plan or 2) Vision Plus Plan. Vision care is administered through VSP.

Intel Catastrophic Rx Health Reimbursement Account (HRA) is available to Medicare eligible retirees enrolled in a Medicare Part D. Intel enrollment or election is not necessary for this benefit, but you do need to be enrolled in a Medicare Part D Plan. Note, the Anthem Medicare Preferred (PPO) includes a Medicare Part D plan.

Refer to IRMP and SERMA SPD for complete information on IRMP benefits. For additional information, please contact the Intel Health Benefits Center at 877-GoMyBen (466-9236), or online at My Health Benefits.

SERMA is provided to help purchase health insurance for you and your eligible dependents once you have retired from Intel and have met the eligibility requirements.

When you retired from Intel as a U.S. employee, if eligible, Intel established a SERMA for you. You may use your SERMA credits to pay for Intel Retiree Medical Plan premiums, or you may reimburse yourself for eligible non-Intel-sponsored health care premiums.

SERMA may be used to increase your health insurance choices and help you stretch your SERMA credits. You have the option to use SERMA to pay for all or part of your IRMP premium or to reimburse yourself for the cost of other eligible health insurance premiums.

For additional information, contact the Intel Health Benefits Center at 877-GoMyBen (466-9236), or online at My Health Benefits.

Using SERMA for non-Intel-sponsored health care premiums

You may use your SERMA credit to reimburse yourself for premiums paid for you and your eligible dependents until you exhaust your account. You may use your SERMA credit toward individual health care premiums. Eligible reimbursements may include premium payments for:

    Individual health insurance

    Individual dental insurance

    Individual vision insurance

    COBRA

    Medicare

    Medigap

    Long-term care

If you are enrolled in IRMP, you may also use your SERMA credit toward other eligible health care premiums. For example, if you are on the IRMP plan and your spouse is enrolled in a non-employer-sponsored medical plan, you may now use your SERMA toward both your IRMP premium and your spouse's non-Intel premium expenses.

For information on your SERMA balance, contact the Intel Health Benefits Center at 877-GoMyBen (466-9236), or online at My Health Benefits in the My Spending Accounts Tile, you will find SERMA. The website allows you to:

    View your SERMA account balance

Submit claims (you have the option to submit claims online, by fax, or by mail)

Check the status of your claims

    Learn more about eligible expenses

Refer to IRMP and SERMA SPD for complete information on SERMA.

Note: If you are a new retiree, your SERMA will not be available to you until 45 – 60 days AFTER your retirement date. If you have questions, please contact the Intel Health Benefits Center at 877-GoMyBen (466-9236).

An Intel Catastrophic Rx Health Reimbursement Account (HRA) is available to Medicare eligible retirees enrolled in a Medicare Part D Plan to provide more financial protection and extra peace of mind regarding prescription expenses. No enrollment or election is necessary for this benefit, but you do need to be enrolled in a Medicare Part D Plan.

Employer-Provided Health Insurance Offer and Coverage

This section provides background on the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) form that will be mailed to you each year.

Why am I getting this form?

The Affordable Care Act requires employers to report retiree health coverage to the IRS. If you were enrolled in IRMP or had a SERMA balance (the retiree Health Reimbursement Account), you will receive Form 1095. Any dependents enrolled with you in IRMP will also be listed on your Form.

You don’t need this form to file your taxes, but when you do file, you’ll have to tell the IRS whether or not you had health insurance for each month of the year. The Form 1095 shows if you had health insurance. When you get the form, keep it with your other tax information in case you should need it in the future to help prove you had health insurance.

What will the IRS do with information reported on Form 1095-C?

It will be used to determine whether an individual was eligible for premium tax credits if the individual purchased coverage on the Health insurance Marketplace and to verify whether individuals are subject to the shared responsibility penalty.

For more information call the Intel Health Benefits Center at 877-GoMyBen (466-9236), or for questions concerning your specific situation please refer to the IRS website or consult your tax advisor.
