Intel®
Education expands
in developing communities |
|
|
In May 2006, Intel introduced the
Intel® World Ahead Program. Its objective is to enhance lives
through technology
access, Internet
connectivity,
education, and locally relevant digital
content.
As part of the Intel World Ahead Program, Intel will train an additional 10
million teachers in developing communities by 2011 on the effective use of
technology in the classroom. The training will occur through the significant
expansion of the Intel® Teach Program. Since its inception in 2000, the
Intel Teach Program has trained more than 4 million teachers in more than 40 countries to
effectively integrate technology and student-centered learning methods into
schools around the world.
In addition to the expanded teacher training, Intel will work with governments
to donate 100,000 PCs to classrooms in developing communities. Just as
importantly, Intel will work with host governments to place this technology in
a broader context of teacher training, relevant content and connectivity
— all of which are critical in accelerating technology's benefits in
education.
