Intel Schools of Distinction
“Schools today are eager to prepare their students for a career in a math- or science-related field and to be engaged citizens in this era of technology and innovation. We seek to recognize the schools that are doing this best, and to share their models as broadly as possible.”
— Wendy Hawkins, Executive Director, Intel Foundation
Intel Schools of Distinction exemplify
math and science excellence
Every year, Intel honors U.S. schools that demonstrate 21st century teaching and learning environments that promote excellence in math and science with the Intel Schools of Distinction awards. To be considered, schools must develop an environment and curricula that meet or exceed benchmarks put forth by national mathematics and science content standards.
Recognition of excellence
- 18 schools, in total, will be selected as finalists in two categories: math and science. Three elementary, middle, and high schools, in each category, will receive cash grants for USD 2,500 from the Intel Foundation.
- Six winners (one elementary, middle, and high school in each of two categories) will receive USD 10,000 cash grants, and more than USD 100,000 in products and services from sponsors.
- One of the six winning schools will be chosen as the “Star Innovator,” and receive an additional USD 25,000 grant from the Intel Foundation, as well as additional products and services as recognition for their science and math programs. Inspire tomorrow’s scientists and mathematicians
Successful math programs and science programs serve as models for schools across the country. By replicating proven programs, schools everywhere can reinvigorate their own mathematics and science programs, inspiring generations of future scientists and mathematicians.
