What type of PCI slot do I need to use with my IQ80303 board?
The IQ80303 eval board has a universal PCI interface. You can use the evaluation board in a 3.3V or 5V, 32 or 64-bit PCI slot. Make sure the orientation of the board, in the slot, is correct. Plugging a board into a PCI slot backwards could seriously damage the evaluation board.
Which utility should I use to program the Flash on my IQ80303 evaluation board?
You should use the FRU (Flash Recovery Utility). The FlashIO utility will not work properly with the IQ80303 evaluation board.
Is the source code available for the FRU?
No, the source code for this utility is not available from the Intel Corporation.
I am having difficulty programming my Flash using the FRU on the IQ80303 board. What could be wrong?
When using the FRU application with the IQ80303 evaluation board there are some subtleties to keep in mind.
- The FRU application must be launched from a bootable floppy in the host machine. The FRU will only work with a binary file, not a hex file.
- Make sure the proper dipswitches on the evaluation board are turned on and off. As per the IQ80303 evaluation board manual, when programming the Flash, 1 and 2 of S2 should be on, and the rest of the dip switches should be in the off position.
- Manually change the default start address to FEE0 0000.
- Check off the box that says, 'override default start address'.
- Leave the file length blank.
Will Windows CE be ported to the IQ80303 evaluation board?
No, there are no plans to port Windows* CE to the IQ80303 evaluation board.
Which development tools are currently available to use with the IQ80303 evaluation board?
The CTOOLs version 6.5 Development Suite accompanies the IQ80303 evaluation board and is the proper development tool for the IQ80303 platform.
My version of CTOOLs was released in 1998. I would like a new copy.
Even though the cd (compact disk) included in the IQ80303 eval kit includes a cd manufactured in 1998, it contains the correct tools. Version 6.5 of CTOOLs was released in 1998 and is the current revision. Intel does not plan on releasing a newer version of CTOOLs. This version will work correctly with the IQ80303 platform..
