Intel® Pentium® Processor Extreme Edition 840∆ Datasheet
The Intel® Pentium® processor Extreme Edition
is Intel's first Desktop dual-core product supporting Hyper-Threading
Technology†. The Pentium processor Extreme Edition uses
Flip-Chip Land Grid Array (FC-LGA4) package technology, and plugs into a
775-land LGA socket, referred to as the LGA775 socket. The Pentium
processor Extreme Edition utilizes the Intel NetBurst®
microarchitecture and maintains the tradition of compatibility with IA-32
software. The Pentium processor Extreme Edition functions as two
physical processors in one package. This allows a duplication of execution
resources to provide increased system responsiveness in multitasking
environments, and headroom for next generation multithreaded
applications and new usages.
Specification Update f or this document: 306832 Δ Intel processor numbers are not a measure of performance. Processor numbers differentiate features within each processor family, not across different processor families. Over time processor numbers will increment based on changes in clock, speed, cache, FSB, or other features, and increments are not intended to represent proportional or quantitative increases in any particular feature. Current roadmap processor number progression is not necessarily representative of future roadmaps. See www.intel.com/products/processor_number for details. † Intel® Hyper-Threading Technology (Intel® HT Technology) requires a computer system with an Intel® processor supporting Intel HT Technology and an Intel HT Technology-enabled chipset, BIOS, and operating system. Performance will vary depending on the specific hardware and software you use. See www.intel.com/products/ht/hyperthreading_more.htm for more information including details on which processors support Intel HT Technology.
