The following Network Processor Forum (NPF) benchmarks and Tolly certificates verify performance claims for the Intel® IXP2XXX product line of network processors. NPF was organized to establish common specifications to facilitate and accelerate the development of next-generation networking and telecommunications products based on network processing technologies.
Intel® IXP2800 Network Processor benchmarks
Intel demonstrated the first IP forwarding benchmark at full speed OC-192 line rate. Dual Intel IXP2800 Network Processors, configured in an Intel® IXDP2800 Development System, have been certified to forward at full line rate OC-192 full duplex traffic (20Gbps) with zero packet loss for 40 byte IP packets to 9k jumbo frame packets. This benchmark is a compelling demonstration of the performance capabilities of the Intel® Internet Exchange (Intel® IXA) architecture.

Intel® IXP2400 Network Processor benchmarks
The IXP2400 Network Processor has been certified on all three OC-48 forwarding benchmarks: IPv4, IPv6 and MPLS. Intel is the only vendor to achieve certified line rate forwarding of OC-48 full duplex traffic (8 Gbps) on each benchmark.
