The Intel® 82559ER is a fully integrated 10BASE-T/100BASE-TX LAN solution containing the Media Access Controller (MAC) and physical layer (PHY). It is a 32-bit PCI device that features enhanced scatter-gather bus mastering capabilities that enable the 82559ER to perform high speed data transfers over the PCI bus. The bus mastering capabilities enable the component to process high-level commands and perform multiple operations, thereby offloading communications tasks from the system CPU. Two large transmit and receive FIFOs are included in the architecture to enhance performance. |
