AN-498 - Designing SERDES Applications -- 82545/82546, 82571/82572 & 631xESB/632xESB Application Note
The goal of this document is to enable customers to construct a board
layout design using the Serializer-Deserializer (SERDES) interface on
Intel Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) controllers. This document covers SERDES
information for the 82545/82546, 82571/82572, and 631xESB/632xESB.
All testing results were performed on modified Intel Network Interface
Cards (NICs) using the Intel LAN controller. Similar devices with a
SERDES can benefit from this document; however, if using a GbE
controller other than the ones described here, designers should verify all
device specifications to ensure they meet the requirements of the design.
