IDE Drivers for Embedded Intel® Chipsets
The ICH3-S and ICH4 south bridges have hardware support for ATA/100.
Linux* | Windriver & QNX
Operating Systems
Windows
Windows* XP, Windows* 2000, Windows* 98, Windows 98SE, Windows* ME
The IDE drivers for these operating systems are included with the operating system distribution, and are automatically included when the operating system is installed. The Intel® Chipset Software Installation Utility may be used to help the OS discover the correct hardware. For improved performance over the standard drivers, the Intel® Application Accelerator utility may be used.
Windows* XP Embedded
The IDE drivers for this operating system is included with the operating system distribution, and may be included when the operating system image is created. The Intel Application Accelerator utility is not designed to work with Windows* XP Embedded but may be installed after the embedded OS has been booted on the target platform.
Windows NT* 4.0, Windows NT* Embedded
The IDE drivers for these operating systems are included with the operating system distribution, and are automatically included when the operating system is installed. These native drivers will only support up to ATA/66. For improved performance over the standard drivers, the Intel Application Accelerator utility may be used.
Windows* CE 3.0, Windows* CE .NET
For Windows* CE .NET, IDE driver is provided with the operating system distributions. However, driver function is limited to a single IDE controller and will support Port I/O method of reading and writing data. Third party vendors may provide additional support.
Linux*
Linux Kernel
The IDE drivers are available in the standard distribution of the Linux kernel. ATA/100 support was available starting with the 2.4.17 release.
Red Hat, and MontaVista
The IDE drivers are available in the standard distribution of Red Hat and MontaVista.
WindRiver* and QNX* Operating Systems
Contact the operating system vendor to determine support for this feature on WindRiver VxWorks* version 5 and QNX* Neutrino* version 6.
