Coding Tips for Developers Targeting I/O Processors Based on the Intel® Xscale™ Microarchitecture

This document is intended to make developers aware of certain architectural characteristics of Intel® I/O processors based on the Intel® XScale™ Microarchitecture (ARM* architecture compliant) such as the Intel® 80310 I/O processor chipset. It is hoped that by raising architectural awareness and by providing direction to more detailed documentation, developers are able to get the highest possible performance out of their applications. As with any architecture, applications developed to take advantage of the architecture tend to dramatically outperform those that are developed using an architecturally agnostic approach.
