Intel® 440GX AGPset Product Overview The Intel® 440GX AGPset is optimized for volume midrange workstations and enterprise servers. As an evolution of the Intel® 440BX AGPset, the Intel® 440GX AGPset performs optimally with the Intel® Pentium® II Xeon® and Intel® Pentium® III Xeon® processors designed specifically for workstation and server systems. The Intel® 440GX AGPset complements 100-MHz system bus and SDRAM designs producing top graphics and video performance, while preserving form factor and core compatibility with its predecessor, the Intel® 440BX AGPset.

The Intel® 440GX AGPset builds on the Intel® 440BX AGPset with support for up to 2 Gbytes of SDRAM memory. The Intel® 440GX AGPset satisfies the large data flow requirements of high-speed networks and large graphics files in advanced server-based CAD and other demanding design applications. Design flexibility, Intel high-performance processor support, memory, and Intel® 440BX AGPset design collateral compatibility – the Intel® 440GX AGPset offers a seamless migration to the power and performance of Slot 2 designs.

The Intel® 440GX AGPset allows developers to quickly ramp their Intel® 440BX AGPset design expertise into workstation and enterprise server products. The two-chip Intel® 440GX AGPset is both form-factor and core-compatible with the Intel® 440BX AGPset. To support fast time-to-market product development programs, design collateral for the Intel® 440GX AGPset is a superset of Intel® 440BX AGPset collateral, and is supported by design guides for Intel® Pentium® II Xeon® and Intel® Pentium® III Xeon® processors, Intel's new line of processors for workstations and entry-level servers. Like the Intel® 440BX AGPset, the new Intel® 440GX AGPset operates on all popular operating systems, including Windows* 95, Windows NT,* and UNIX.*
