Developers can meet goals of parallelism with suite of new products
SWINDON, UK, May 26th 2009 – Intel Corporation today announced the launch of Intel® Parallel Studio, a suite of products designed specifically for Windows developers to create, debug and optimise applications for multicore processors. The tools will help software architects, developers and innovators to meet the challenges of programming for multicore processors.
The suite will assist developers in achieving the two most important goals of parallelism: correctness and scaling. Correctness ensures that the developed application runs predictably on multicore processor systems. Scaling means that application performance increases as the number of cores available increases.
Designed specifically for use by C and C++ programmers who use Microsoft Visual Studio when creating parallel Windows applications, Intel Parallel Studio addresses the entire development lifecycle from the design stage, through coding and debugging to verification and tuning.
"Virtually all new personal computers and servers now contain multicore processors, yet applications are only just starting to appear that are optimised to make the best use of these systems," said James Reinders, Director Marketing and Business, Software Developer Products at Intel. “Simply using tools designed for single core processor systems will not yield good results. With Intel Parallel Studio, programmers get the tools they need for leading in today’s multicore world.”
Intel Parallel Studio includes:
Intel® Parallel Composer to help add parallelism to Windows applications more quickly and with better scaling using an advanced compiler and libraries.
Intel® Parallel Inspector to help find errors faster through the rapid analysis of code for threading and memory errors.
Intel® Parallel Amplifier, an intuitive performance analyser and tuner to quickly find bottlenecks and help tune applications to scale.
From May 26th 2009, Intel® Parallel Advisor Lite, a new plug-in for Intel Parallel Studio,is also available at no additional charge from Whatif.intel.com. This tool enables Windows developers to determine where adding parallelism would be most beneficial for existing source code.
Intel Parallel Studio supports Intel and compatible processors, has a suggested list price of $799, and is available from resellers worldwide. Additional information is available at www.intel.com/go/parallel.
