Intel® Teach to the Future
As the largest educational project initiated by the private sector in Taiwan, the Intel® Teach to the Future program is aimed at training K-12 teachers to effectively integrate computer technology into their classroom teaching. The goal is to train 10,000 teachers by year-end 2002. The Intel Teach to the Future program has received strong support from the Taiwanese government. The Central Ministry of Education has sent an official memo of endorsement to K-12 schools nationwide. The Ministry of Education also grants training credits to K-12 teachers who complete the Intel Teach to the Future training. In addition, four local governments have adopted Intel Teach to the Future as the official training curriculum for technology-based education.
Intel Computer Clubhouse Network
The Intel Computer Clubhouse Network in Taiwan is localized to align with the government initiative to provide a creative learning environment for school dropouts. The first clubhouse is expected to open in Taiwan by the end of 2002.
Increasing Interest in Science and Technology
Intel works with the Ministry of Education to organize educational events such as the science project development workshop. This workshop, attended by hundreds of students, increases students' interest in science and technology. Other events designed to capture students' interest include "Meeting with Science Role Models" and the "Post-ISEF Campus Forum."
Higher Education-A Wireless Lab and More
Intel's higher education initiatives support the three major universities in Taiwan:
- National Taiwan University
- National Chiao Tung University
- National Tsing Hua University
At Chiao Tung University and National Taiwan University, Intel set up labs to support curriculum development and research projects for Internet applications, multimedia, and networking communications. At Tsing Hua University, Intel set up a wireless lab-the first of its kind at an Asian university. Intel executives visited these universities to give lectures that focused on emerging technologies and current trends.
- Students who win the Intel ISEF grand award in Taiwan can enroll directly in a university without taking the national entrance exam.
- The wireless communication lab at National Tsing Hua University in Taiwan is the first of its kind at an Asian university.

Taiwan's National Science Fair is organized by the National Taiwan Science Education Center. Intel supports this national fair by sponsoring the winners at the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (Intel ISEF). Because Intel ISEF is highly regarded in Taiwan, students who win the Intel ISEF grand award can enroll in a university without taking the national entrance exam. An additional honor is that winners have a chance to meet and be congratulated by the President of Taiwan.
