Intel® Teach to the Future
The Intel® Teach to the Future program is quickly becoming an integral part of the Polish educational system. The program helps bridge the gap between the evolving needs of educational reform and teachers' increasing demands for opportunities to develop technology skills.
The program helps Polish teachers meet new professional development standards established in 2000. Before teachers can be considered for promotion to a higher grade, they must demonstrate basic PC and Internet skills, and be able to effectively use technology-based tools in their classroom. The program helps teachers help their students find seats in the Internet-age classroom.
The Intel Teach to the Future program in Poland is considered a landmark in demonstrating the importance of using and applying technology in the classroom. Both the Ministry of Education and the teaching community recognize the Intel Teach to the Future certificate as the de facto standard of computer competence for teachers. The program is endorsed by the Parliamentary Commission for Education, the Ministry of National Education, and the First Lady of Poland Jolanta Kwasniewska. She commended Intel's Polish team for efforts "to demystify the PC and take it out of the hands of those information technology experts who would like to hold the keys to PC labs where new PCs with Internet access become obsolete in solitude and away from the children they are supposed to serve…."
- 30,000 teachers will complete the Intel Teach to the Future program by year-end 2002.
- Teachers can register for new courses online and obtain the materials needed to complete all of their Intel Teach to the Future coursework.

Polish teachers appreciate and value the Intel® Teach to the Future program—it's a perfect match for both their interest in new pedagogical tools and their need to upgrade technology-based skills. Teachers who have completed the program display their certificate and textbooks as proof of their progressive attitude. Indeed, the desire of those not yet trained to become part of Intel Teach to the Future is so strong that the blue Intel Teach to the Future binders are considered icons of courage and modernity.
