Junior Cert Physics - Lenses
Grade: Junior Cert year 3      Subject: Science
Topic: Physics / break down into sub-topics e.g. lenses
Essential Question: What is the effect of lenses on light?
Description: Scientific process is central to the revised Junior Certificate syllabus, which amongst other things, aims to encourage the procedural, cognitive affective and communication skills through practical activities that foster investigation, imagination and creativity.

Junior Cert Physics - Density
Grade: Junior Cert year 3      Subject: Science
Topic: Physics / break down into sub-topics e.g. density
Essential Question: What's the relationship between an object and it's density?
Description: Scientific process is central to the revised Junior Certificate syllabus, which amongst other things, aims to encourage the procedural, cognitive affective and communication skills through practical activities that foster investigation, imagination and creativity.

Junior Cert Physics - Stretching Investigation Tool
Grade: Junior Cert year 3      Subject: Science
Topic: Physics / break down into sub-topics e.g. stretching
Essential Question: What is the correct method to carry out and evaluate an investigation?
Description: Scientific process is central to the revised Junior Certificate syllabus, which amongst other things, aims to encourage the procedural, cognitive affective and communication skills through practical activities that foster investigation, imagination and creativity.

Meet the Bears
Grade: Senior Infants-1st Class      Subject: Science, Math, Writing
Topic: Animals
Essential Question: How are we like other animals?
Description: How many of ME would it take to outweigh a polar bear? To get in touch with their inner bear, primary students look at bears from all angles, and apply math and measurement skills to compare themselves with their furry friends.

Food for Thought
Grade: 3rd-4th class      Subject: Science, Math
Topic: Nutrition, Health, Consumer Awareness, Persuassion
Essential Question: How can I stay healthy?
Description: Elementary students learn about health, nutrition and consumerism as they create a new fast food restaurant that offers healthy and appealing foods.

Density: Got Gas?
Grade: 6th Class to 1st year      Subject: Physical Science
Topic: Properties of Matter
Essential Question: Why is the universe the way it is?
Description: Students engage in a variety of investigations related to the density of liquids, solids, and gases. They also build hot-air balloons and experiment with variables that affect flight success.

Camera Works: A Pinhole View of the World
 Grade: Years 4th-6th      Subject: Physics
Topic: Photography, History
Essential Question: How can we communicate our interpretation of the world around us?
Description: Following a study of the physics of light, budding photographers conduct research and apply their knowledge of light and optics to build their own pinhole cameras.

Plunging into Physics
 Grade: Years 3rd-6th      Subject: Physics
Topic: Physical Principles, Measurement
Essential Question: How can we explain the things that happen around us?
Description: In this unit, students ask questions about their physical world, and design experiments to answer them. They venture out of the classroom with probeware and handheld computing devices to test a variety of physical phenomena. The study culminates in classroom presentations of their investigations. This is a final unit that follows a general physics curriculum.

Designer Genes: One Size Fits All?
 Grade: Years 2nd-3rd      Subject: Genetics
Topic: Economics, Science in Society
Essential Question: Just because we can, should we?
Description: Student genetics experts help farmers in a blight-stricken region of Mexico decide whether to use genetically engineered corn.
