The Intel® Storage Controller virtualizes the integrated shared storage through a SAN fabric that connects the compute modules to the 14 2.5-inch SAS drives. The Intel® Modular Server system includes a storage controller with a redundant option available.
The Intel® Storage Controller offers expansion to connect an external SAS RAID array through a mini x4 external SAS port to allow sharing of external storage with all server compute modules. Intuitive SAN storage management is also included in the Intel® Management Module.
