Techniques for Debugging Packet Processing Systems
The white paper describes some of the typical problems engineers face while debugging packet processing systems, with a collection of techniques applied successfully in the past to nail down the root cause of such problems.
Due to the complexity of these systems, it is imperative they be designed with debug capabilities from the start. The techniques described in this paper represent a collection of built-in mechanisms to be provisioned from in the design phase to assist the system debugging at run-time, with the purpose of detecting system errors from the first stages of development and testing.
