The Data Center is the Server, the Cloud and the Future
The revolution in computing is driving enterprise IT from being PC- and hardware-centric to being software- and services-centric. The data center is at the forefront of this revolution. Data centers today are running out of space to grow, waste power and cooling resources, and represent poor working environments. As such, they are losing their status as critical business assets. New computing models—virtualization and cloud, for example—demand improvements in the way data centers are designed, built, and managed. This author’s perspective places the data center as the server, the cloud, and the future of enterprise IT.
