McAfee, Intel Strategy Coming into Focus
This Editor's Pick reports on the McAfee-Intel strategy, which is showing results with integrated security technologies for embedded security and security for mobile devices. At the September 2011 Intel Developer Forum, McAfee announced McAfee DeepSAFE*, new hybrid hardware and software technology that detects rootkit attacks on PCs and servers. McAfee DeepSAFE sits under the operating system and application layer, which are the primary targets of attacks. McAfee and Intel also announced the development of antitheft solutions for Ultrabook™ PCs. Owners of lightweight notebooks will be able to track, lock down, and wipe data from stolen and lost machines. Also in September, McAfee earned a coveted position in Gartner's magic quadrant for mobile security.
