INTERNATIONAL DAY OF THE GIRL
To celebrate International Day of the Girl, Intel is sponsoring a range of celebrations and actions of the Girl Rising campaign which is empowering individuals, schools, and companies to host Girl Rising screenings in support of IDG during the month of October, with a target of 2,500 events worldwide. Intel is also collaborating with a number of the 10x10 NGOs to host screenings and holding an Intel Global Giveback Day for employees. In total, more than 50 Girl Rising screenings and Intel employee volunteer events across more than 20 countries are planned, as well as IDG-related activities through the Intel Computer Clubhouse Network and Intel for Change campuses. EVERY GIRL HOLDS THE POWER TO CHANGE THE WORLD
At Intel we believe that we and others have an important window of opportunity—a chance to unlock an untapped resource of millions of talented and capable contributors to transform local communities and add to the world’s economic growth.
Education is a cornerstone, the fundamental bedrock. But we cannot afford to move slowly. That’s where technology comes in – it has the potential to accelerate, to bridge the gaps faster. We believe investing in women’s education and technology TOGETHER can only help further facilitate and even amplify social and economic benefits, and drive global transformation.
ADDRESSING THE ISSUE
For over 40 years Intel has created tools and technology for innovation and over the past decade has invested more than $1 billion to improve education globally. But with all of the progress that has been made, the gap for girls and women remains. If we truly want to ‘connect and enrich the lives of every person on earth’, and achieve our vision of empowering all people through technology, we must focus and address the gaps.
We also look to the next generation to help drive change by spreading the word and getting involved in being advocates for girls’ education. Intel for Change is a community of inspired young people, dedicated to achieving universal access to education around the world. By joining the community, you can learn more about the issues, connect with passionate peers, share your thoughts and accomplishments, and take action to fuel the movement for girls’ education.
