Symptom(s):

When the onboard disk controller is configured as software RAID using Intel Embedded Server RAID Technology II, and a new hard drive is connected to the server, the newly added hard drive is not recognized in the operating system.

Cause:

Intel Embedded Server RAID Technology II does not support JBOD mode. To use a single standalone hard drive, create a RAID 0 virtual drive consisting of the hard drive.

Solution:

Add a RAID 0 virtual drive consist of the newly added hard drive using the Intel Embedded Server RAID Technology II BIOS Configuration Utility or Intel® RAID Web Console 2. For more details, please refer to the Intel® RAID Software user's guide.
