Intel or the laptop computer original equipment manufacturer (OEM) may not provide technical support for some or all issues that could arise from the usage of the generic software and drivers found on download center. Intel recommends that you obtain and use the software provided via your laptop manufacturer.
Uninstalling a driver is usually done as part of troubleshooting an issue. Uninstalling can help you isolate an issue to a specific driver loaded in the system. Some issues may be resolved by a simple software or driver update. Other issues may require a complete uninstall of the existing wireless software and drivers and then a fresh install of the latest software and drivers.

There are two kinds of downloads available on download center for Intel® Wireless Adapters. There is a software package, which includes Intel® PROSet/Wireless Software and wireless adapter drivers if you want Intel PROSet to manage the wireless client, and there is just the wireless adapter drivers themselves if you want the Microsoft operating system to manage the wireless client.
When the Intel PROSet software package is updated, the driver version for your wireless adapter may or may not be updated. The updates, patches, or fixes included in a new software or driver release may apply to the just software itself (Intel PROSet) or it may apply to just one Intel® Wireless Adapter or to many Intel wireless adapters.
