What is the issue?

  • Error: "The IGFXTRAY.EXE file is linked to missing export HCCUTILS.DLL:IsDisplayValid."
  • Error: "The HKCMD.EXE file is link to missing export HCCUTILS.DLL:IsDisplayValid."

What is the cause?

The errors may appear when you start Windows* after reverting to a previous version of the Intel® Graphics Drivers. For example, when you go from a 6.x graphics driver to a 5.x graphics driver.

How do I fix it?
  1. Select and copy the text between the rows of asterisks below:
    ****************************************
    [Version]
    signature="$CHICAGO$"

    [DefaultInstall]
    DelReg = Intel.DelReg

    [Intel.DelReg]
    HKLM,SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{280A8F40-E382-11D2-B561-00A0C92E6848}\shellex\PropertyPageHandlers\igfxcfg\diagHandler,,,
    HKLM,Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run,IgfxTray,,
    HKLM,Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run,HotKeysCmds,,
    ****************************************

  2. Paste the text into Notepad and save it to C:\ as "fixreg.inf". Be sure to select Save as type: All Files in the Save dialog box.

  3. Navigate to C:\ in Windows* Explorer.

  4. Right-click the fixreg.inf file and choose Install. No confirmation is given.

  5. Reboot your system.
